The winter season is officially here and you may be wondering what you can do in order to keep your hair healthy during the cold months. Protect your hair with the right winter hair care plan. Winter offers many highlights alongside chilly everyday life. For hair, however, the cold can be tough – hair is set upon by a mix of snow, rain, cold air, and heating. In order for your hair to survive the constant back and forth between hot and cold temperatures, we have some tips on how to care for your hair and keep it shiny and healthy through the winter.
To avoid dry hair in winter, avoid frequent hair washing. Natural oils provide a protective layer between the scalp and hair. Bridge the gap between washes – and avoid looking greasy – by using dry shampoo. But also that that you should never leave the house with wet hair in winter. The cold is extremely damaging to damp hair, and may lead to split ends.Â
If you’re blow drying your hair make sure to use a relatively low temperature. The heat from your BLOW dryer isn’t good for your hair either, which means that damaged or dry hair is dried out even further. Remember to apply a heat protection product and blow dry using the diffuser on a low heat setting.Â
It’s always a great idea to take a walk in the winter sunshine with a hot beverage. But exposure the cold and the snow is a real stress factor for your hair. That’s why, we suggest you wear a hat to minimize exposure to the weather.
Cold weather and dry central heating doesn’t just impact your skin, but your hair too. Use a moisture-restoring shampoo and conditioner during the colder months. You probably won’t be able to completely avoid winter dryness, so add a weekly moisturizing mask to your care routine, too. You may find some homemade hair masks here.
Winter is often toughest of all on the ends of your hair. Friction against hats, coat collars etc. causes extra stress. Split ends are the unfortunate side effect. Get regular trims and those split ends won’t stand a chance – your hair will remain healthy and shiny.Â
Hair oil can be a blessing for stressed winter hair. It helps dry and damaged hair to regenerate and gives it new freshness and shine. The golden oil can be applied directly to wet hair after you rinse out your shampoo or, alternatively, after blow drying. The ends of your hair will benefit from this treatment most of all, since they’re roughed up by coats, scarves, and sweaters in winter.
